Course Description
Elaine brings her love of teaching and French and her knowledge and passion for the Louisiana French to her classes. Get ready to learn French in a fun, creative and relaxed environment!
She reclaimed the language of her great grandparents as a teenager. Hundreds of hours spent listening to the stories of Cajun, Creole and American Indian speakers of French were a favorite part of her community outreach program at CODOFIL (Council for the Development of French in Louisiana). Her years as Director/Curator of the Acadian Memorial helped cement her understanding and appreciation of Cajun/Acadian history.
Elaine draws on her experience of teaching Louisiana and standard French over a 20-year period.
The LouisianaBeginner’s French class will provide you with the tools to have basic conversations intertwined with learning about the Louisiana French cultures. The Louisiana Intermediate French class will increase your conversational and reading skills using music and the stories of native speakers, written pieces and videos.
