Journaliste à News 15, Phillip est originaire de Raceland (paroisse Lafourche) et réside à Lafayette depuis maintenant trois ans. Il aime apprendre le français et se promener au Parc Girard.
Q.: Quelle est ta motivation pour apprendre le français?
P.: J'ai commencé à apprendre le français quand j'étais jeune, mais je n'étais pas très sérieux. J'ai redécouvert mon intérêt pour le français l'an passé, lors du Festival International. La langue française, c'est vraiment notre patrimoine. C'est aussi une belle opportunité pour mon emploi.
Q. : Qu'est-ce qui pourrait être plus "Franco-friendly" à Lafayette?
P. : Quand je suis arrivé à Lafayette, j'ai entendu parler français plus souvent que dans la paroisse Lafourche, et ça m'a inspiré à apprendre le français. Je souhaite parler français plus souvent au quotidien.
Q.: As-tu un livre, un film ou une chanson que tu préfères en français?
P.: Au début, j'ai beaucoup écouté les chansons des dessins animés de Disney, comme "Comme un homme" (Mulan), celles du Roi Lion ou de Tarzan. Grâce à Youtube, j'ai découvert récemment des artistes comme Vianney ou Bigflo & Oli. (Phillip adore aussi Stromae).
Q.: Quelle est la dernière expression ou le dernier mot que tu as appris en français?
P.: Lors du dernier cours, je devais dire à un collègue, qui m'avait invité, que je ne pouvais pas venir. Pour finir la conversation, j'ai utilisé l'expression "partie remise".
Q.: Quel est ton mot préféré en français?
P.: En ce moment, c'est l'expression "ça tue"!

Q. : What is your motivation to take French classes with AFL?
P.: I started learning French when I was young, but I was never too serious about it. Last year, during Festival International, I rediscovered French language and got very interested in learning again. This is our heritage, and being able to speak, write and understand French is a great opportunity for my job in the future.
Q.: What could be more "Franco-friendly" in Lafayette?
P.: When I arrived in Lafayette three years ago, I was very surprised to hear French more often than in Lafourche Parish. I definitely want to speak French more often on a daily basis.
Q.: Do you have a favorite book, movie or song in French?
P.: First, I have started with Disney songs such as "Comme un homme" from Mulan, or the ones in the Lion King or Tarzan. Thanks to Youtube, I have recently discovered and really enjoyed Bigflo & Oli or Vianney. (Phillip is also a big fan of Stromae).
Q.: What is the last word or expression you have learned in French?
P.: Last week, I wanted to know how to say "raincheck," you know when you are invited and really to come, but already have plans scheduled... Well now, I know that it is "partie remise."
Q.: What is your favorite word or expression in French?
P.: Right now, it is definitely the expression "ça tue!"
